Hello Miguel!
Thank you for sharing the notes!
Yes, we (RedPES and APDES) are available to help you with whatever is necessary, namely contacts with Portuguese-speaking Africa.
Abraço,
Miguel Yasuyuki Hirota · Fri 5 Feb 2021 1:57PM
Here is the summary of the online meeting on Fri, 5th Feb 2021 on this working group in English.
1) The official language within this group is exclusively English, to stimualte communications among different cultures without need for translation.
2) On the other hand, we're aware of the lingustic needs for different countries, especially in Asia and Europe.
3) Subdivision of each continents into more people.
a): Africa: Arabic-speaking, English-speaking, French-speaking and Portuguese-speaking. We still lack contacts with Portuguese-speaking Africa, but REDPES from Portugal might help us.
b): Americas: We're fairly well/covered, although some efforts are needed to cover the English-speaking and French-speakin Caribbean.
c): Asia-Pacific: Oceania and South Asia are still poorly covered, so we need efforts to strengthen. Maybe we can invite New Caledonia by putting people there with other French-speaking ones.
d): Europe: Slav/Baltic and former Soviet Union countries are lacking.
e): Middle-east: Miguel has a contact with Turkey.
4) Given that somebody has to wake up late at night or early in the morning, the online meetings will be split into two: one for Asia-Pacific (ex.: Hong Kong 2pm = NZ 6pm/7pm = India 11:30am) and another for Europe/Africa/Middle-East/Americas (ex. Kenya, Turkey, Moscow 7pm = Berlin, Barcelona 5pm/6pm = London 4pm/5pm = Buenos Aires noon = LA 8am/9am)
5) Our priority actions are as follows:
- Go on finding contacts at uncovered regions (Africa, non-Latin Europe, South Asia and Middle-east)
- Prepare the pamplhet
- Do the mapping (perhaps former works can help)
- Work on the glossary (we can leverage https://www.solecopedia.org , avaialble in 7 languages)
