How to get over the language barrier
As SSE is for ordinary people who usually don't speak foreign languages, it's essential for us to make more efforts to provide more information in their languages. This thread will be used to exchange ideas on how to strengthen our reach to those who don't speak none of RIPESS official languages (English, French, Spanish and Portuguese), especially those in Asia and non-Latin Europe.

Helen, as we said earlier, the first step is to create simple pamphlets, with up to 500 words, in as many languages as possible (perhaps also in Tetum), titled as "SSE in a nutshell". Refer to https://framavox.org/d/5L149ImJ/a-draft-on-sse-pamphlet for further debate...

first soultion: Powerpoint presentation in different languages
One of the strategically most important things is to upload powerpoint presentations at Youtube, because they'll enable you to put subtitles in different languages so people can understand your presentation although they don't speak English. This is how you can do it.
1) Prepare your powerpoint as usual, but using as many photos as possible without depending too much on texts (assume that not everybody can read your message in English).
2) Record your narration (more info here). Don't forget to read out each word you wrote at the powerpoint, because many people don't understand what you wrote. If you aren't good at pronouncing in English, you can try to use some reading softwares to get almost natural (but machine-made) narration.
3) Upload the video at Youtube, as usual, and wait until the automatic subtitle is ready (usually 5 to 10 times the length of video, so if the video lasts 10 minutes, allow for 2 hours until the subtitle is ready).
4) Use this function so your subtitle is translated to as many languages as possible.
I'd like to share how I leveraged this function to make my documentary available in 60 languages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG6BXRW9zUw I hope this method will help us communicate beyond language barriers...

Yes, I agree this needs to be done, but first we need to get a solid group working in at least one language!
