ECO Operative

Welcoming a clarifying update…
[ECO Operative aims to respond socially, technically, economically and culturally for pursuing effective climate change adaptation through much wider and deeper transformation toward sustainability: permaculture.]

Yuly,
Winter has been an hibernation.
I would love to share more about the process we led with Rafa and Aicha.
In general, we had a group of around 10 people, portuguese speaking commited to participate in 6 meetings of 3 hours during 6 weeks.
The focus of the meeting were: sharing a common language and tools that facilitate CO cultures to flourish.
*CO stands for (COoperation, COmmunity, COnsciousness, COmmitment, COnection,CO...)
We focus on 4 main aspects:
(Me) Personal evolution - IKIGAI and Leadership
(Us) Relationships - NVC and conflicts
(Community/organization) Governance - Sociocracy 3.0
(World) Nature - The work that reconnects.
I do believe that it could be very interesting to start discussing topics, I will open a thread about philosophy to share a common understanding, on words as regeneration and Integral here on this platform. (https://framavox.org/d/ZAC3Wwjr/philosophy-creating-a-common-understanding-)
Also I wanted to react to your very well pointed concern of having a low diversity in the group:
I completely agree and under my perspective what might be happening is that WE (youth and neo-rurals, who speak in english) are willing to organize ourselves to then be an actor inside the local/bio-regional context. Then when we start to more effectively contribute for the evolution of the whole, we will be able to stablish communication with other actors and organizations (neo-rurals who spek Portuguese, locall community, intentional communities...) that are already doing some work on the field, working in the next scale on the co-creation of a common vission.
Talking about the statement I would call it driver/purpose rather than mission.
And when we talk about integral regeneration that is the desired impact we would like to have,
what is then the community need that we are observing that we would like to adress?
As I have already shared, for me in a broader sense is : Community organization
In more a personal level: educational programmes facilitate the emergence of CO cultures.
Greets to all and happy new chinesse year!
Are we ready to move on?
<3

Boa Tarde,
like what I see and read here :-) For me our statement (whatever it contains) chould also be a bit shorter including words like regenerative culture, integral etc. And I would not neccessarily focus for example on climate change unless we understand climate also as something like the climate we live in and that we create culturly :-) In my perspective most of us for instance don't only do climate change adaptation but also mitigation. But in general I think if we want to have somthing like a "Statement" it needs to cover a broader persepective...
For our Vision, Purpose and Goals I think we could be a bit more explicit and precise and explaine them with a couple of words...just my opinion :-)
We definatly need a seperate physical meeting/workshop for that...but I think is fruitfull to start the discussion here online already...

Clear, simple and concise as a(nother) source of inspiration, from some fellows, with ❤️ …
Tera is a territorial development project that aims to create a cooperative ecosystem to relocate 85% of vital production to its inhabitants, to reduce its ecological footprint to less than one planet, to value this production in local citizen currency, issued via an autonomy income of one euro above the poverty line for each of its inhabitants.
Objectives of Tera
Redesigning Democracy
The citizenship of its inhabitants will be exercised through shared governance that encourages everyone to contribute to decision-making.
Improving well-being & living together
Health and well-being will take precedence over all political decisions. Tools for collective functioning and conflict management will be deployed to ensure the best possible conditions for living together.
Producing locally what is needed
Food sovereignty will be ensured by local production. Housing, energy production, water supply and sanitation solutions will be self-developed. Shared mobility will be set up. The design of these local systems will be based in particular on permaculture.
Sustainable living
Living spaces will be designed in an ecological and resilient manner, using local materials as a priority. Landscaping and architectural intent will allow their integration into the landscape. Moreover, they will respect the ecosystem thanks to sober lifestyles and the use of renewable energies.
Pooling resources
The free movement of people, goods and information will be designed with an optimal logic of sharing between citizens. The economic system will be inspired, among other things, by the Economy of Functionality and Cooperation to develop integrated solutions for sharing resources and promote the circular economy.
Choosing your activities
So that each inhabitant of Tera can choose his or her activities, he or she will receive an Autonomy Income: an unconditional basic income paid at most in local citizen's currency. This income will be based primarily on the development of local economic and cultural activities that will ensure the basic needs of the village's inhabitants: housing, energy, water, food, shared mobility and information. Sustainable economic development and a strengthening of social cohesion will then once again be observable in the area in which it is located.
Assessing and sharing knowledge
Through experimentation, hosting, scientific advice and training, we continuously spread our experience and skills to help organizations and territories evolve.

Also, I feel like sharing these very concise notes synthesizing two interesting TED Talks I've watched some months ago that might be of a certain influence on social design:
Changing a (human) behavior
Social incentives;
Immediate rewards;
Progress monitoring (not the decline).

Emergent strategy is a set of actions, or behavior, consistent over time, “a realized pattern [that] was not expressly intended” in the original planning of strategy. When a deliberate strategy is realized, the result matches the intended course of action.
An emergent strategy develops when an organization takes a series of actions that with time turn into a consistent pattern of behavior, regardless of specific intentions.
Deliberate strategies provide the organization with a sense of purposeful direction.
Emergent strategy implies that an organization is learning what works in practice.
Mixing the deliberate and the emergent strategies in some way will help the organization to control its course while encouraging the learning process.Organizations… [may] pursue… umbrella strategies: the broad outlines are deliberate while the details are allowed to emerge within them.”

So, as a recap that might be of some use for some following experiments:
@Yuly🌻 :
ECO Operative as a supportive platform:
↳ governance, communication, funding, legal advices…
A core group (meeting "often"):
↳ to zone and sector projects;
↳ to explore and promote tools, methods, infos.
A wider gathering "sometimes":
↳ to update the services and tools being explored by the core group, some educational content, networking and creative connections.
@Jose Ma :
Ecosocial mapping and SLOC (Small Local Open Connected) platform to facilitate cooperation;
Presential gathering for sharing relevant tools to promote a culture of collaboration.
From a thematic approach, the documents linked or attached in my 1st comment expose some major topics of work.
Relatively to the glossary, some words I find relevant to explore at some point are:
economy · bioregion · community · commons · synergy / stigmergy · complexity · emergence · momentum · flow · purpose · conflict · boundaries / edges · trauma · ego / self
By the way, what about an Alentejo Permaculture Convergence emphasizing children, elders, and natives that next Spring?... 🙊

Brené Brown's strategies on shifting towards a more impactful leadership practice:
Less prep', more presence
Low ego, high impact
Building alignment, not selling ideas
Relationship is the measure of our strength
This will be as amazing as you are
Trust your own work, and trust each other

Agree on the integration of online platforms as well as meetings
A philosophy meeting is crucial to advance as to where we stand. I think it would be useful to start the discussion here online in order to save some time and to come with basic overview of the different opinions. Or do you have a better tool to ensure a fruitful discussion (these type of topics can take forever to tackle)?
What is the frame work of the group you are leading with Rafa and Aicha? Is it close/open, ongoing/one time event? Would love to hear more details, especially to be more clear the energy is not spent twice considering Noy&Ciro workshop proposal
